Valérie Pécresse of PSG demands for Idrissa Gueye to be sanctioned.

Valérie Pécresse, the President of the Ile-de-France region, requested sanctions against PSG player Idrissa Gueye this morning after the latter declined to play against Montpellier on Saturday because the game was part of an international day against homophobia. Pécresse believes that sportsmen serve as role models for young people, which is why she requested via social media that this act not go unpunished.
“For our children, soccer players, particularly those of PSG, serve as figures of identification.
They have a responsibility to lead by example.

“Idrissa Gana Gueye’s unwillingness to join the fight against homophobia could not go unpunished!” tweeted Valérie Pécresse, quoting the official PSG account.
