Bordeaux: partners question Gerard Lopez’s leadership.

According to L’Équipe, numerous Girondins de Bordeaux partners have written a letter to Gérard Lopez, the club’s president and owner, expressing their serious dissatisfaction with his management. “We’ve noticed that you’ve desired to be president and general manager since the day you arrived.” Unfortunately, this critical function for a team’s performance has been overlooked and never assumed. We feel you had a significant role in the Girondins’ collective wreckage. This ship sank gently in front of your averted gaze and ours, astounded.

They wrote in their letter, “Your absence at all levels, on the media scene, in the stands, in the center of Haillan, but especially with the players in difficult or decisive moments is inexcusable,” and asked Lopez to remedy the untenable situation by taking over his responsibilities and appointing a President and General Manager in the coming weeks.”
Gerard Lopez answered with an open letter, the content of which was provided by the sports daily
. “We must not lose sight of the beginning, and the reality that without the one and those whom some criticize now, there would simply be no club.”
[…] Many of the elements reported about me are simply fantasy insofar as my involvement, even if it does not take an exuberant form due to my temperament, is nevertheless very strong, responded the Luxembourg businessman, who says he is determined and recognizes that Bordeaux needs to adapt its organization even if, according to him, it should not give in to pressure from anyone and should not make risky decisions to satisfy particular interests.
